Rolling Out Something New: How Elevate Built a Multi-Format Pre-Roll Experience

About Elevate

Elevate is a Kansas City-based vertically integrated cannabis operator with active operations in Missouri, Arizona, and a recent expansion into Illinois, the company balances quality, accessibility, and innovation across its three core brands:

For Peak, the packaging had to speak as loudly as the product itself. That led to a bold new idea: a premium tin filled with six pre-rolls in three different sizes—tailored for different moments, moods, and consumers.

The Vision: From a Rough Sketch to Shelf

The vision started with a team brainstorm and a desire to deliver something the market hadn’t seen before, Skylar Jorgensen (Director of Procurement) drew up a rough concept for a multi-format pre-roll tin that could elevate the entire consumption experience.

Two 1g joints, two half-grams, two dogwalkers—plus a visible Boveda pack underneath a custom insert. Equal parts functional and showstopping.

A Tin Built for the Peak Experience

Tin Inspiration

Skylar wanted something premium and different—“a wow factor.” He sketched the idea by hand after internal development meetings introduced the multi-format pre-roll idea.

Product Experience Goal

“Wouldn’t it be cool to show up to a party and have different size joints for different people?” Tailored for real-life consumption scenarios and a polished, elevated feel.

Boveda Integration

Essential to signal quality and care for the flower. Skylar pushed for a design that made the pack visible without violating Missouri’s packaging restrictions.

Why Elevate Chose Vert

Skylar had plenty of packaging partners. But he didn’t want all his eggs in one basket—and he already knew Vert’s Director of Sales, Peter Mohr, from a previous business relationship. That was enough to give Vert a shot.

“I hadn’t even committed to Vert yet, and they were already producing mechanical drawings. That told me everything I needed to know.”

Skylar Jorgensen

Vert’s responsiveness, depth of industry experience, and flexible terms sealed the deal. Skylar was especially drawn to VertFlow, Vert’s packaging project portal, which would eventually give him real-time visibility into every job—no phone tag required.

Vert’s Impact on Elevate’s Business

Faster Product Development

From a napkin sketch to production-quality prototypes in just 20 business days—Vert helped bring the vision to life with speed and precision.

Cost Savings & Flexibility

Vert beat Elevate’s incumbent supplier on cost per unit and worked around procurement requirements with flexible terms that fit the business.

Stronger Vendor Relationships

Vert’s consistent communication, transparent updates, and collaborative approach earned a permanent seat at the table for future packaging projects.

Vert took an idea that started as a chicken-scratch sketch and brought it to life—fast, polished, and without cutting corners. They were responsive, flexible, and made it easy to trust them with something important. I include them in every packaging quote now, and I think any serious brand should give them a shot.
